Traditional Sri Lankan Buriyani
Ingredients
1 ½ tablespoons Ruci Buryani Paste
1 cup Basmati Rice
2 cups water
1 onion peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon lime juice (will help grains remain separate)
50g butter (or 1 tablespoon cooking oil)
Method
1.Bring the water to boil in a saucepan
2.Add the rice to the water, stir, lower heat, cover pan and allow to simmer for 10-12 minutes
3.Once the rice is all turned white remove from heat stir and leave to cool for 5 minutes
4.Heat oil in a pan and saluté onions until soft
5.Add Buriyani paste cook in low heat for 1 minute
6.Add rice cook for 2 minutes continuously stirring for paste to coat the rice evenly
