A Tangy spice based Mulligatawny soup with a hint of chilli.

Mulligatawny is a soup that is originally from South India. The name comes from the Tamil words miḷagāy (chilli) or miḷagu (pepper), and taṇṇi (water).  It is a clear soup, and the name describes how it is made. Herbs and spices are boiled with water to reduce it to the right taste and consistency. It is also known as 'Rasam' which means concentrated juice or liquid.

Recipes for mulligatawny varies greatly, a popular soup amongst the British colonisers in India and Sri Lanka who created versions of the soup that included meat and vegetables.

We have created the perfect blend of spices with coriander and tamarind as a concentrated paste for making the traditional spicy Mulligatawny.

It is quick and easy to make, just add one tablespoon of the paste to one cup of water and bring to boil, reduce heat and let it simmer for 2 - 3 minutes. Strain off the bits and enjoy the clear soup! It is ideal when the cold autumn and winter months are here.
