The tropical fruit tamarind originated in tropical Africa where there are dry deciduous forests. Although having been so long in India it is often stated as originating there as well, hence the term referring to it as "tamar hindi" or Indian date. The fruit can be dated back to ancient Egypt and Greece in the 4th Century B.C.
The spice tamarind chutney has a rich aromatic scent of spices. This tamarind chutney has a very sweet & sour taste, that follows with a nice spicy note. The spicy tamarind chutney can be consumed in many different ways. It can be eaten as a starter with a nice cheese board. The tamarind chutney can always be used as a spread on sandwiches, with crackers and breads such as naan and roti.
The Spicy tamarind chutney is ideal as a side to curries. It is handmade in Sri Lanka using traditional recipes. The spicy tamarind chutney has been awarded 1 star at the Great Taste Awards 2017.
