Everything you need to cook a proper Sri Lankan vegetable curry at home, in one box. The paste at its heart is unroasted, made specifically for vegetables, so it lifts their fresh flavour rather than overpowering it. That's the veggie in the name: a paste built for vegetables, not a meat paste.

It carries the bright, fragrant notes of chilli, fennel, fenugreek and cumin, and it's endlessly versatile. One kit turns a whole range of everyday vegetables into a warm, satisfying curry worth putting at the centre of the plate.

Curry paste: the unroasted heart of the kit, handmade in Sri Lanka in small batches.

Starter spices: a small sachet to temper in hot oil at the very start, building the aromatic base the curry cooks on.

Coconut milk powder: for the rich, creamy sauce that defines a Sri Lankan vegetable curry.

White slender rice: sourced from a leading producer in Sri Lanka that invests heavily in research and sustainable farming, working hand in hand with a wide network of out-grower farmers. The result is rice that’s as wholesome as it is delicious, cleaned, and ready to cook.

Easy to follow recipe card, to make a fragrant, home-cooked meal with minimum effort. We'll be sharing recipes over time so you can cook your way through a whole range of vegetables with the one kit.

Usage Information

If the jar is opened before use, close tightly, keep it in the fridge and use within 4 weeks. Keep all the packs unopened until you need them. Once opened, use them straight away. The recipe card suggests a potato curry; the pack contains no meat or dairy. The kit is yours to make into whatever meal you like. Different vegetables can take on varied amounts of spice, so start with a smaller amount of paste and adjust to taste.

WHAT IS VEGGIE VYANJANAYE?

Vyanjana (ව්යඤ්ජන) is the Sinhala word for a curry — the dish that turns a plate of rice into a meal. On a Sri Lankan plate, the vyanjana is what gives the whole meal its character.

And the veggie? That points to something cooks here have understood for generations: vegetables ask for a gentler spice than meat. When cooking vegetables, the spices are left unroasted, so they stay fresh and fragrant and let the vegetables' own flavours lead. Roasting, which draws out a deeper, earthier, smokier note, is saved for richer meat curries. It's a distinction that runs right through the island's cooking.

It's also why a vegetable dish is never an afterthought. Where many kitchens treat vegetables as a plain side, a Sri Lankan cook makes them the equal of any curry on the table: everyday vegetables you'd recognise anywhere, beetroot, carrot, green beans, leeks, simmered with coconut and fresh spice into something bold, bright and full of flavour.

We have kept with that tradition, a Vyanjana made the way vegetables have always been cooked, an everyday secret of the Sri Lankan kitchen, brought to yours.
